Governor Yahaya Bello visits Fashola, urges Minister to help Kogi fix ailing Infrastructure and Power

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, yesterday, visited Nigeria’s Minister for Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, urging the Minister to help fix some federal roads in the State to help arrest the decadence of the roads.

The Governor made the plea while paying a working visit to the Minister in Abuja. He said Kogi is strategic to the economy of the country, hence, the need for good road networks in the State.

Governor Bello made specific mention of the Lokoja-Okene-Lagos road, Kabba-Ilorin road, Lokoja-Okene-Benin road and the Okene-Ajaokuta road as particularly deplorable in the State.

He also appealed to the Minister to facilitate the refund of monies expended on federal projects in the State by the State Government.

In the same vein, the Governor appealed to Mr. Fashola to intervene in the epileptic power supply in the State by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, just as efforts are in place by the State Government to educate electricity consumers on the need to pay their tariffs regularly to encourage constant power supply, saying no economy can grow without guarantee of power.

Responding to the Governor, Mr. Fashola thanked him for the visit and assured him that the Federal Government will soon attend to the federal roads in the State. He said the process of refunding monies spent on federal roads by the State Government is ongoing and would soon be paid.

The minister also acknowledged the commitment of the Governor and people of Kogi State to ensuring favourable business environment for the AEDC, that as a result, power supply to the State will definitely improve.
